The Fenway Studios Open House is an event we look forward to each year, and it's happening this weekend. More than 25 members of this not-for-profit artists' cooperative will open their studios, and in some cases their homes, to visitors.
Artist, Robert Baart has been kind enought to keep us informed of happenings around this historically important organization and building. (That's Robert in the photo above.) He recently alerted us to something we are excited to photograph!
"At the Fenway Studios we have just finished a restoration of our magnificent front door. It was a project done by a group of members spearheaded by current president David Lowrey. It's how it looked in 1905 when the Fenway Studios was constructed."
We have our own system for enjoying the open house. Each year we try to concentrate on one or two floors so that we can do more than a quick walk through of each offering. It also allows us to relax and admire the architecture of this treasured building on our annual opportuntity to spend some time inside.
Viewing an artist's work in their studio setting is just one aspect of this event. (And, you really must see these Robert Baart pieces in person – photos could never capture all the subtle nuances.)
Some works are still on easels with the palette and color pots present.
Should you find an artist whose work touches your soul, you are in a place where they can pull a piece from their storage bins that they think you would love.
