While you might expect an Old English Sheepdog to enjoy herding sheep, Sunday Dog Abbie is actually a cat-herding sheepdog! Even though she began life on a farm, she’s terrified of the animals, but absolutely loves cats!
This friendly six year old is also very intelligent. She even picked-out her own name! Her person, Jenny, originally tried others but got no response. “So, I opened up a book of baby names and Abbie was one of the first names I read. She looked at me and I said, ‘Okay, that’s your name.’”
You may have seen Abbie around town. She comes to work every day with Jenny, a groomer at Pawsh Dog Boutique & Salon here in Boston. You’ll often run into Abbie relaxing in her job as unofficial shop greeter.
Let’s face it, Abbie likes to be wherever Jenny is, especially when it comes to water sports!
We’ve learned that Abbie is taking kayaking lessons and seems to be right at home on the water. Is there anything this talented sheepdog can’t do?
There’s something very special about Abbie, a friendliness and warmth. Maybe it’s also the feeling you get when you meet her and look into her eyes.
Jenny told us that, “Abbie’s eyes are very human. People tell me, all the time, that Abbie looks like a person in a dog costume.” Maybe. But, I can’t help but wonder if Abbie thinks we’re really dogs in a human costume!
