"Sweetest Pear" said the sign on the Chinese White Pears or Ya Pears at Russo's in Watertown. Each pear was wrapped in tissue and one of those little stretchy plastic net socks.
Once unwrapped, they were lovely to look at and phtotograph, even just sitting there on the cooktop.
I loved their plump shape and interesting stem. They seem to be an Asian pear shaped like a very pale Comice pear.
Once sliced, they proved to have a finer texture and much more flavor and aroma.
The Ya pears made a perfect afternoon snack. I might like to use these in a salad, perhaps with some butter lettuce and hazelnuts or almonds and a lemon vinaigrette.
