Boston\u2019s most beautiful landmark has some serious competition. Her name is Amber<\/a>, or as we refer to her, \u201cThe Jewel of the Public Garden.\u201d While it\u2019s not easy to upstage such a gorgeous place, this pup captured our full attention as we strolled the park\u2019s pathways on a recent weekend afternoon.<\/p>\n

As we approached, Amber came right over to say hello. But, as she flashed those big, bright eyes, we couldn\u2019t help but detect a bit of concern in her face. It seemed one of her two people had disappeared (he\u2019d actually gone to pick up some lunch) but Amber wasn\u2019t buying it. <\/p>\n

This two year old could be part Bernese Mountain Dog<\/a> and part Neapolitan Mastiff<\/a>, no one is really sure. Her mom was a rescue from Boston, helped through PetFinder<\/a>, whose twelve puppies were placed with the assistance of a Wellesley rescue group. We think we see a bit of Rhodesian Ridgeback<\/a> in that stance. <\/p>\n

We\u2019re not sure what Amber made of a very, large dog that trotted by, but this magnificent Clydesdale<\/a>\/Thoroughbred<\/a> mix did manage to divert her attention for a short while. <\/p>\n

Amber\u2019s other person, who told us she\u2019d been with them since eight weeks of age, confirmed what we\u2019d already discovered\u2013 that Amber is, \u201cthe sweetest dog I\u2019ve ever had.\u201d And she is, without a doubt, very loyal to her family which soon became three again.  <\/p>\n

We left Amber showing off a satisfying smile that lit up the entire park. After all, she is, \u201cThe Jewel of the Public Garden.\u201d <\/p>\n
