Here's a rundown of what's open in Boston on Thanksgiving, November 28, 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Financial Services:<\/strong> <\/span><\/strong>As the British would say, this is a Bank Holiday with both banks and the stock markets in the United State closed. International markets are open.<\/p>\n

City, Town, State, and Federal offices and facilities are closed:<\/span> <\/strong>This includes Schools, Libraries, and the Postal Service. Only emergency services are available.<\/p>\n

Parking & Street Sweeping<\/h2>\n

Boston Parking:<\/span><\/strong> You don't have to feed the meters. Other parking rules apply.<\/p>\n

Street <\/strong>Sweeping<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/span> The city says, "Daytime street sweeping is suspended on city holidays<\/a>, but nighttime sweeping schedules remain in effect. Constituents are advised to call 617-635-4500 for exact details."<\/p>\n

Trash Collection & Recycling<\/h2>\n

Boston Trash Collection <\/span>for Thanksgiving week<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 The city says<\/a><\/strong>:

"Thursday, November 28, 7am \u2013 Saturday, November 30, 2013, 5pm"<\/p>\n

 <\/span>"Delay trash and recycling pickup 1 day only if you live in South Boston, Allston, Brighton, Dorchester, East Boston, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain*, Mattapan, Roslindale, or West Roxbury AND your trash and recycling is normally collected on Thursday or Friday. *If you live in Jamaica Plain and your trash is picked up 2 times per week, do not delay."<\/p>\n

Update 11\/26\/13:<\/strong> The city has published its red box summary of the day. Here it is: \"Screen<\/a><\/p>\n

Two Hours of Free Metered Parking<\/h2>\n

And the city has issued a press release with additional parking information for the shopping season.<\/p>\n

"The City of Boston will be offering two hours of free parking at the City's parking meters on the following six days this holiday season.<\/p>\n

  2. Saturday, November 30<\/li>\n
  3. Saturday, December 7<\/li>\n
  4. Saturday, December 14<\/li>\n
  5. Saturday, December 21<\/li>\n
  6. Saturday, December 28<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    While payment at meters will not be required on these six days, the time limit on the meters will be in effect and enforced in order to give as many visitors as possible a chance to take advantage of this opportunity. Parking at the vast majority of Boston's parking meters is limited to two hours. However, at parking meters where the time limit is four hours, vehicles may park for free for up to four hours on these six days."<\/p>\n
