While on the lookout for a worthy sparkler to ring-in December, as part of our Sparkling Resolution,<\/a> we discovered a Gruner Veltliner with bubbles \u2013 the 2005 Nigl Brut de Brut.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Since Gruner has been a long-time favorite with us, the addition of fizz, and in this case Chardonnay, seemed like an interesting marriage. Well, we\u2019re here to say, \u201cIt\u2019s wedded bliss!\u201d  <\/p>\n

These new "wine" glasses were inspired by running out of glasses to share a wine with neighbors on a recent Ptown vacation. We substituted a martini glass that worked well and was fun!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

This Austrian sparkler is definitely food-friendly, but also very enjoyable all by itself. Followers of wine site CellarTracker<\/a> said it best, tasting \u201c…flavors of tart apple with peach,\u201d<\/em> calling the Nigl Brut de Brut \u201c\u2026dry, crisp, with racy acidity,\u201d "\u2026quite spirited and fun to drink,\u201d<\/em> and \u201c\u2026a very nice alternative to Champagne.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
