But, if you&#39;re planning to dine at one of Boston&#39;s fine restaurants over the holidays, make a reservation! More than ever, family and friends are gathering in area restaurants on holidays like this, which means spots at your favorites may be gone if you wait too long.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"asset-img-link\" href=\"http:\/\/bostonzest.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00e54fc42bb8883401b8d17aa8d9970c-popup\" onclick=\"window.open( this.href, &#39;_blank&#39;, &#39;width=640,height=480,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0&#39; ); return false\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"6a00e54fc42bb888340147e031dab7970b-800wi\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00e54fc42bb8883401b8d17aa8d9970c img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/bostonzest.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00e54fc42bb8883401b8d17aa8d9970c-450wi\" style=\"width: 425px; border: 1px solid #E8E5E5;\" title=\"6a00e54fc42bb888340147e031dab7970b-800wi\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Don&#39;t be surprised if a deposit is required to hold your reservation or if there are special menus and seatings for these special holiday meals. Unfortunately, restaurants have been forced to do this because of people who make multiple reservations, so they can decide at the last minute where to go. This leaves other diners without choices and the restaurants with empty tables.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What&#39;s Open on Christmas Eve?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are more choices on Christmas Eve than on Christmas Day. Some of our favorite, special places have wonderful holiday meals planned for those who reserve for the 24th.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The legendary team from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lespalier.com\/events\/occasional.shtml\" target=\"_self\">L&#39;Espalier<\/a>&#0160;normally offers a prix fixe Christmas Eve menu. &#0160;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamorra.com\/menu.html\" target=\"_self\">La Morra in Brookline<\/a> is an ideal spot to meet friends or family from that side of the Boston area. They are offering family style dining, &quot;sharing traditional dishes of Piedmonte.&quot;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.meritagetherestaurant.com\/\" id=\"nay-\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Meritage\">Meritage<\/a>&#0160;at the Boston Harbor Hotel has a four course prixe fixe menu set for the 24th.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/petitrobertbistro.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Petit Robert Bistro<\/a> locations will be open with regular meals and specials. We like the one on Columbus Ave in the South End.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/bostonchefs.com\/holiday\/christmas-eve-boston-restaurants\/\" target=\"_self\">Here is the Christmas Eve list from Boston Chefs.<\/a> Be sure to check back, because this list may grow.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.opentable.com\/promo.aspx?m=7&amp;ref=8785&amp;pid=5\" target=\"_self\">Here is the Christmas Eve List from Open Table.<\/a>&#0160;Be sure to check back, because this list may grow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the early date of this posting, some places have not announced their traditional <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Feast_of_the_Seven_Fishes\" target=\"_self\">Feast of the Seven Fishes<\/a> events for Chistmas Eve. Check back or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BostonZest\" target=\"_self\">follow us on Twitter<\/a> for updates on this fun, holiday dining option.&#0160;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coppaboston.com\/news\/upcomingevents\" target=\"_self\">Coppa Enoteca<\/a> is one of our favorites and is offering their version of this tradition.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.restaurantdante.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Dante<\/a> in Cambridge will present Chef Dante de Magistris&#39; version of the feast with other menu items available.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/grottorestaurant.com\/index.php\" target=\"_self\">Grotto<\/a>&#0160;was one of the first to present this holiday tradition.&#0160;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marliave.com\/home\/\" target=\"_self\">Marliave,<\/a><strong>&#0160;<\/strong>Grotto&#39;s sibling downtown will also hold &#0160;in the festive fish feast.&#0160;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kitchenbostonmass.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Kitchen<\/a>&#0160;and&#0160; will be open offering the regular menu with a seafood theme for those who prefer an&#0160;\u00e0 la carte choice.&#0160;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/edibleboston.com\/feast-of-the-7-fishes\/\" target=\"_self\">Here is a great article from Edible Boston on this traditional meal.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Update 12\/17\/15: <\/strong>Here&#39;s a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/boston.eater.com\/maps\/boston-restaurants-open-christmas-eve-2015\">Boston Eater&#39;s list of places to dine on Christmas Eve.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What Boston Area Restaurants Are Open on Christmas?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hotel restaurants, since they must serve the hotel&#39;s guests, are normally open on holidays.<\/p>\n<p>In Boston, hotel restaurants open both the 24th and 25th include some excellent choices:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barboulud.com\/boston\/menu\" target=\"_self\">Bar Boulud<\/a> at the Mandarin Hotel&#0160;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fourseasons.com\/boston\/dining\/events-and-promotions\/\" target=\"_self\">The Bristol Lounge<\/a> at the Four Seasons Hotel<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.meritagetherestaurant.com\/\" id=\"nay-\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Meritage\">Meritage<\/a> at the Boston Harbor Hotel&#0160;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brasseriejoboston.com\/\" id=\"m0vh\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Brasserie Jo\">Brasserie JO<\/a> at<strong>&#0160;<\/strong>the Colonnade Hotel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #5b5b5b;\"><span style=\"color: #111111;\"><br \/>\n<script src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/s\/ads.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other places open on holidays<\/strong> would include chain restaurants and some places in Chinatown. We once asked a longtime Boston cabbie where we could get something we needed on Christmas, and he said Chinatown was the place to go.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some conversations on Eater,&#0160;<a href=\"http:\/\/chowhound.chow.com\/boards\/12?tag=bd;chowhound_popup_us\" target=\"_self\">Chowhound.com<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/ShowForum-g60745-i48-Boston_Massachusetts.html\" target=\"_self\">Trip Advisor<\/a> about Christmas dining. Change the hour and the list will change and some are not on the featured lists. It&#39;s a good place to start.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonchefs.com\/\" id=\"hp.d\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Boston Chefs\">Boston Chefs<\/a> site has posted a list of its participating member restaurants with special features for the holidays. Here&#39;s the <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonchefs.com\/holiday\/christmas-eve-boston-restaurants\/\" target=\"_self\">Christmas Eve List<\/a> &amp; the <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonchefs.com\/holiday\/christmas-day-boston-restaurants\/\" target=\"_self\">Christmas Day list.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>From Last Year: <\/strong>Eater Boston has a list of <a href=\"http:\/\/boston.eater.com\/maps\/whats-openinbos-on-christmas-eve-and-day\" target=\"_self\">What&#39;s Open in Boston Christmas Eve and Christmas Day<\/a>. We&#39;ll update with the new one when it&#39;s available.<\/p>\n<p>They have many good choices to add to your holiday options. We&#39;d particularly like to recommend:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/islandcreekoysterbar.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Island Creek Oyster Bar<\/a> for Christmas Eve.
