Frenchie Fun, Watching Maudie Grow!

Miss Maude the French Bulldog is a recent additon to our neighborhood and we love watching her grow up and learn new things.

One of the first things she mastered was the totally adoring look she saves for her family.

When we first met Maude, she was quite happy to show us that even at this young age she had mastered licking her nose and dancing at the same time. (Smart girl!)

And, that was at a time when she was still busy growing into her ears! (By the way, these ears are among the softest I've ever found.)

Then, there's her, "I'm getting carried and you have to walk" face. (Don't ever get into a staring contest with this Frenchie. She'll win!)

Here's her perfect "Show Girl" pose. Doesn't it show off her trim and adorable figure? Look at that tiny waist!

Sometimes, she finds our cameras a bit offputting and doesn't mind letting us know she's had enough posing. One of the best things about living in the city is getting to know so many wonderful dogs like Miss Maude.

Lawdy Miss Maudie, you are just too cute! Sorry, but you'll have to get used to the paparazzi and all the people who can't resist your charms.

Nova Is a Frenchie Superstar!

Nova was four months old and obsessed with people and play when we met on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall last week.

We spotted this tiny French Bulldog with obvious spunk and personality heading our way. Our Westie Poppy sat down to wait for an initial meeting with this new neighbor.

Saying hello to Nova reminded us of the very first Frenchie we recall seeing up close. We were with our first Westie Sassy having breakfast at a place called Dotie's. The guys at the next table had an adorable Frenchie and told us all about this lovely breed.

Over the past decade, the breed has mushroomed in popularity and we've had the pleasure of watching quite a few Frenchies grow up and become charming neighbors.

Keep up that charm, Nova! You'll make a lot of friends around Boston.

Nova Is a Frenchie Superstar!

Is Your Sunday Dog a Snow Lover?

Does your canine companion drool at the thought of a walk in the snow? Or do the four-paw brakes go on when the door opens onto a scene wet with wintry white?

Our 10-month-old puppy, Poppy loves playing "Queen of the Snowbank!" You can see the smile on her funny little face in this photo.

But, some of her neighbors are not fond of wet or snow.

For example, our pal Smudge loves to Pose but not on wet days. Then, he will do his business in record time and try to get back inside. He thinks kids like Poppy, who like being out in it, are a bit looney tunes.

Elvis Lives Next Door, and that's where he prefers to stay on snowy days. He doesn't like wet. He's not even into cold and declines to go out and play in the wet with Poppy.

What do the dogs in your life think of snow? What do they do that makes you laugh when confronted with a few inches of the white stuff? In her first year, Poppy has become a champion "snow hopper" and that makes all three of us smile.

Provincetown “Frenchie” with a Stand-in!

On every Provincetown visit we make a point of checking out some of our favorite gardens. This one, on Commercial Street, had a new addition– a Frenchie sculpture.

Suddenly, the real star emerged from the house, and granted a brief, private photo op!

And, just as abruptly, returned to seclusion, leaving the stand-in to deal with the next admirers!
