Sunday Dog New Year’s Resolutions for 2013

Our puppy Poppy has been frantically picking up her P-mail on every corner in the neighborhood and she tells us a few of this year's Sunday Dogs have made New Year's Resolutions. (And if they haven't, she's making some for them.)

Now & Future Sunday Dog, King! is growing up to be a big, strong German Shepherd. He has resolved to stay as sweet as he was as a pup and to always remember that he and Poppy are no longer the same size and so to play gently with her.

We told you that Chiquita Loves to Dance! Poppy tells us that Chiquita has resolved to open her own dance studio in 2013 and teach you and your dog how to cha cha, foxtrot, and jitterbug together!

Not only is it true that, Odis “Loves Everyone!” but everyone loves and misses him too. Poppy has sent him a message that he has to get back to his old neighborhood more often. She says we have a great selection of places to get presents!

Not only can Sunday Dog Ollie give Tips on “Being,” but he's also going to spend 2013 writing a book on how to respond like a mature and sensible gentleman when a young neighbor girl has an enormous crush on you.

It should be a best seller among dark and handsome guys like Ollie who have to deal with problems like this from girls like Duchess Poppy.

When you first met Hudson, He didn't need a dog license because he was too young. But, now that he's grown, he has a fan club and people who come to visit him in his shop, Q Optical on Newbury Street. His goal for 2013 is to move up the corporate ladder, become the top dog, and have everyone at Q Optical working for him. And, he intends to win his way with sweetness and love. Good Boy!

Finally, in a species by herself is Sophia Cat, last seen playing "Her Glass Harmonica". She also works on Newbury Street at Bauer Wine & Spirits.

She has resolved to form an association to represent the Newbury Street shop cats and dogs and make sure their rights as workers are protected.

At the moment, Sophia would like to organize a protest against the holiday window display that's keeping her from sunning herself in her favorite spot. And, if you want to join her picket line, she won't even care if you are of the canine persuasion.

Sunday Dog, Maya– Beyond Cute!

It’s one thing to “think” you’re cute, and another to “say” you’re cute. But, when your “cuteness” is so utterly obvious to the entire civilized world, it becomes a “fact.”

And, what’s even more remarkable is that, despite all of her undeniable gorgeousness, Sunday Dog, Maya couldn’t care less. She’s too busy just being a puppy!

After all, at 3-months old, there’s a lot of chewing that needs to be done. Maya even manages to make such a mundane job look inviting.

Then, there’s the always important sidewalk stiffing technique that is best mastered early in life. (She seems to have a preference for brick.)

Maya was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. As her person points out, “She’s an authentic Chihuahuan Chihuahua.” After living there for a few months, “I brought her back as my Mexican souvenir.”

This little (2.8 pound) beauty told us she loves living in her new home and is even learning to bark with a Boston accent.

Sunday Dog Wilson, the Fastest Tongue in Boston!

Wilson not only has the fastest, but also the most accurate tongue in all of Boston! Of course, you wouldn’t know it to look at this handsome little guy, but when you’re this good, there’s absolutely no need to brag.

Besides, maintaining a low profile preserves the element of surprise. A “Lightning Licker,” as they’re known in the trade, can be quite the cunning character. This extraordinarily talented actor might pretend to be following a scent, when he’s actually moving into position.

Or, as Wilson so expertly demonstrates, there’s the classic “Staring Off into the Distance” pose– often employed just before the final set-up. This crafty canine appears to be in a trance-like state, but it’s a sure sign that he’s about to strike!

A blur of pink extends toward his target as Wilson lunges in for a landing. Notice the body extension and fluid form that propels him toward his destination. You can tell, it’s not his first time.

And, we have Touchdown! What precision! What grace! (Your Applause, Here)

Meet Hudson, He Doesn’t Need a Dog License!

That's because this adorable Chihuahua puppy is only four months old. He has settled into the Back Bay with his special person and is filling her heart with joy. He will need a license once he reaches six months.

For the rest of the pups, applications for the 2012 Boston Dog Licenses have been arriving in area homes. If your dog is currently licensed, you should receive the application in the mail. Under state law, all dogs over the age of six months must be licensed by April 1st of each year.

If you didn't get a Boston Dog license application in the mail, you can download one here.

The list of 2012 Boston Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics around the state is now posted. This includes the clinics in Boston and those where you can get your license at the same time.

If you get to meet Mr Hudson, you'll quickly learn that he's a charmer who probably should be given a special license for stealing hearts– because he's gonna do that anyway! I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this little guy in our Sunday Dog files.
