Yesterday there was a birthday party at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel for their lovely canine ambassadors Catie, who turned 14, and Carly, who is now 5. While you may have missed the party, the girls will be happy to see you anytime you stop by.
You'll often find them assisting the doormen at the St. James Avenue entrance right across from Copley Square Park. Since they get so many treats and so much love each day, the girls asked the hotel to make the following announcement for those who want to wish them a happy birthday.
"In lieu of gifts for the hotel’s pampered pooches, we invite guests to bring a donation of towels, blankets or toys for the dogs and cats at the Animal Rescue League’s Boston Shelter." You'll find a wishlist at that link and the shelter address where you can drop the gifts or you can even send the gifts directly from Amazon.

One of our favorite pastimes this summer will be watching Wolfgang grow up. In our neighborhood, word of a new puppy spreads like wildfire and everyone shares the latest cuteness they've witnessed with other dog fans.
So you know that this little Maltipoo with the big name of Wolfgang is going to be the talk of the town.
At four months old, he is sticking close to his human companion but watching and learning all the time.
Last Sunday, we told you how Leo put on a demonstration of great behavior in the park so little Wolfie could learn from his example. You can see how intently the tiny pup followed along.
We look forward to seeing this little guy grow up and are happy to add him to our list of great park pals.

Poppy loves snow but even she was a bit irreverent in saying goodbye to February 2015 and its record-setting snowfall.

In this cold weather, Poppy is not getting her daily dose of dog time, so even seeing Bear poking his head out of his car window was a treat. (The car was parked, not moving and there were people in the front seat.)
He was staring at our Westie Poppy. We think he was hoping she would invite him out to play.
Then, he noticed that I was taking pictures of him and went into his formal pose.
Finally, when he felt I had taken enough liberty with my camera, he stuck out his tongue as if to say, "Photo opportunity is over."
Great to meet you, Bear. You did the Great Pyrenees breed proud with your beautiful poses.

Spencer from Still Life Farm, wanted us to share all the excitement that has been going on this week over on the Modern Farmer site.
They have been featuring farm dogs all this week with everything from "Ruff Choice: Which Farm Dog Is Right for You?" to the official ModFarm Farm Dog Cam showing farm dogs at work.
Spencer says you should hop over and enjoy meeting some of the dogs that help bring food to the table.
Just this week, Spencer was up late a few nights protecting his hens from a wandering raccoon. Most of the time, his principal job is keeping his favorite farmer Curtis company as they put in a long day of chores on the farm.
But, Penny snapped this photo of him with that worshipful expression on his face as Halley, his favorite female farmer, walked past him. His expression went from bored to very interested in seconds!

With the sunshine and warmth last weekend, we took a long walk with one of our favorite dogs, Miss Greer the Greyhound. And, we learned that she has a thing about getting down and personal with snow.
Here she is washing her face after lunch. She says that fluffy white stuff is good for her facial fur. It keep her looking young!
After a few miles of walking, a girl can get warm. That's when you need to get your whole body down in a snow bank.
And, if you are very fortunate, you can have a well-trained pal provide a shower of fresh snow for your topside.
"Ahhhhh!" Greer says, "You just can't imagine how good this feels!"
