I was out on assignment shooting photos in Beacon Hill when I spotted these lichens on the fence that runs around the Boston Public Garden. These tiny organisms have found a shady spot along Beacon Street where they are happily growing on the cast iron fence.

Grilled Cheese is one of the great, quick meals. But with folks like Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese food truck around, you need to step up your game if you want to wow your family with your homemade combos. My secret weapon is When Pigs Fly Breads.
Some simple cheddar and farm fresh tomatoes became something special when I melted them into a couple of slices of “Red Pepper Hummus with Sesame Seeds & Garlic bread.”
This board of sandwiches disappeared quickly. Another favorite tactic is to make a turkey sandwich on what we call their stuffing bread. You can have Thanksgiving in August with that flavor combo.

Across Beacon Street from the Public Garden is this holiday gathering of penguins. They are marching across the front yard of a home that always adds some whimsical, seasonal interest to their garden and window boxes.
The ducks in the window boxes must have a closet inside for their ever-changing wardrobe.
We always make a point of stopping to enjoy the witty fun at this address.

The Gibson House Museum Holiday Open House is our Friday Link. The staff and volunteers have decorated the house in appropriate Victorian style. On Sunday, December 11th, they are opening their doors to friends and neighbors from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission will be free for this event.
They invited us in while they were decorating, so we could give you a sneak preview.
If you can't make the open house on Sunday, or if you have a holiday guest who would love to see what the homes in the Back Bay looked like a hundred years ago, you can take a guided tour of the Gibson House.
