Greer Lesson: Always Make Time for a Nap!

We learn a lot of important things from our dog pal Greer. One thing she's tried to teach us is that you should always leave room in your schedule for a nap. She teaches by example and slipped into a doze on a recent visit to the Public Garden.

The clicks of the camera did catch her attention but she was not about to wake up completely, so she just gave Ed a slitty-eyed gaze.

Snowy Comm Ave Walk (Photos)

I was having second thoughts about a snowy Commonwealth Avenue walk with my furry 10-month-old terrier, but she convinced me that it’d be fun! Poppy explained the basics …

Find a big pile of snow …

Eat as much as possible …

Shake off the excess!

There are always other dogs to see along the way.

And, if you time it right, there are shovelers to clear the way!

Lots of people stay home on a day like this, so we’ll have the place to ourselves.

But, you always have to be on the lookout for scary snow plows!

They’re everywhere!

We’ll enjoy watching people wearing funny hats!

And, when we get tired we can sit and watch the snow pile up.

Meet the Leonberger

Meet the Leonberger, a large working dog that originated in Germany.

One of the great things about living in the city is the opportunity to meet so many different breeds of dogs and all the mixes of those breeds. We should keep a life-list of breeds like bird watchers keep a life-list of the birds they have spotted in the wild.

This person had his hands full with two adults and one puppy. That's a lot of dog but they were all being polite to other dogs and the people they attracted. When the time came to leave the park, the puppy wanted to stay. Fortunately, he was still small enough to be scooped up and carried away – small enough for about another week that is!

Meet the Leonberger

Meet the Leonberger, a large working dog that originated in Germany.

One of the great things about living in the city is the opportunity to meet so many different breeds of dogs and all the mixes of those breeds. We should keep a life-list of breeds like bird watchers keep a life-list of the birds they have spotted in the wild.

Dear Poppy, Should I Let Humans Brush My Teeth?

Dear Duchess Poppy,

The people I live with read that February is Doggie Dental Month, or something like that, and now they keep coming at me with silly sticks with brushes on the end. Do I have to put up with this? Should I let these humans clean my canines?

Questioningly,

Dear Chomper,

As you can see from the photograph of moi above, I've trained my retainers to polish my pearly whites twice a day! I started this training the day I arrived here, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Who wants fuzzy teeth???

And, as much as I love my dear veterinarian team, I don't want to visit them too often. Do you have any idea how many presents I could have for the cost of one dental cleaning at the vets? Brushing means more money to spend on travel and jewelry!

I've had my research team post a video (below) for you to review and pass on to your servants.
