Sidewalk Piano Tuner

You never know what sights you'll come across as you walk the streets of Provincetown. But, we did not expect to see a piano tuner working on the sidewalk.

Note-by-note he adjusted the strings on this old upright.

Tuning can be done with tuning forks, but this gentleman had a chromatic tuner
to guide his work.

He attracted more attention than some of the street musicians we had passed along the way, but he did not have a tip jar so we had to assume he wasn't a licensed performer!

Here are the dates and deadlines for the Fall 2013 elections. If you are new to Boston or will be registering to vote for the first time, you have until 8 pm on October 16, 2013 to register for the November 5, 2013 election.

(The deadline for the Preliminary Boston Mayoral/Municipal Election on September 24th has already passed.)

Election November 5, 2013: Including the election of a Mayor and City Council Members in Boston from Boston Elections Department.
- October 16, 2013- 8:00 p.m. Last hour and day for registration of voters for Municipal Election.
- November 5, 2013- 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. — ELECTION DAY.

Warrior Sunflowers

Once in a while, you find a sunflower with attitude. We spotted these "Warrior Sunflowers" in a South End Community Garden and couldn't resist sharing them.

Towering over the people who tend them, standing up to wind, and not ready to bow their heads, they face the city streets with courage. They look dangerous and have earned our respect.

It's one more side of this sunny plant that we told you about in last week's "At the Market" report.

Could You Move to Your New Boston Home on a Bike?

You would have to really declutter and keep your possessions to a minimum but we have heard tales of people moving from one Boston area home to another on a bike. Or with the help of friends on a few bikes with trailers attached.

We thought that might be what we had here when we shot a photo of this woman hauling totes of something on her trailer during the big move weekend. But as she pulled away, we saw the bike.barismo.com, complete with logo, on the rear of the trailer. (Twitter: @barismobike) She was probably delivering coffee.

However, we discovered that Gentle Giant, the mover that we consider the best anywhere, added Bike Moves back in 2012.

As so many of us declutter and lighten the load of material objects in our lives, keeping in mind those who live so lightly on the land that they can move on a bike, is inspirational!
