  • Sparkling Splits Are Always Ready for a Celebration

    DSC_7708 - Version 22012-08-30-piper-heidsieck-cahmpagne-© 2011 Penny Cherubino

For our Happy New Month toast this time around, we're enjoying a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck. We didn't have to remember to chill it because we think a split of a great sparkler should always reside in the refrigerator. You never know when you'll want to celebrate!

We'll do a review of the Piper in a future month. We want to taste a split (half-bottle), 750 ml, and magnum– if we can find one– to determine whether (as some suggest) bottle size affects the taste.

But, for September, we just wanted to get you to think about stocking up on a few splits of sparkle. Then, when the day produces a small win, a favorite person stops by, or the first-of-the-month sneaks up on you, you'll be ready to pop the cork and bring on the cheer!

Here's more about Our Sparkling Resolution

    Alimentum

Those of us who love to express our creativity through food also love to find publications and websites that collect great work to inspire us. Alimentum is one of those sites.

    They say:

"Since 2005 Alimentum has been delighting readers with stories, essays, and poems that use food as a kind of muse to inspire memory, ideas, humor, joy, melancholy, triumph and reflection. The works are not just about what’s on your plate. They explore our deep personal connection to how we eat, what we eat, and the very primal part food plays in our lives.."

    We say:

We have been following and enjoying this carefully curated collection since its early days as a print publication. There are still some early copies tucked amid our cookbooks. Most were passed along to other food lovers. Now that it's available online, get over there and explore the site.

    Here's the site.

  • Edible Boston Fall 2012 Issue Around Town Now!

    Edible summer - Version 22012-08-24-edible-Boston-fall edition-2012-© 2011 Penny Cherubino

Edible Boston's covers are so attractive that I can envision them framed on my dining room wall. This issue is no exception. Nice work by photographer Michael Piazza.

The Fall 2012 issue is around town now. I found a stack of them at Bauer Wine & Spirits on Newbury Street. Howie Rubin had nice things to say about the success of his advertising in this publication. I know that Edible Boston has been an asset to the local food community, but I'm really happy to hear that it's good for the businesses that support it with their advertising dollars.

Every issue seems to feature someone near to our hearts at BostonZest. This time, there's a feature on the family team from the Mei Mei Street Kitchen food truck.

Pick up a copy and enjoy the insight provided on many aspects of the local food scene.

Our Friday Link today is to BostInno's "21 Local Must-Read Food Blogs," by Lisa DeCanio.

    BostInno

The team here at BostonZest is honored to be included in this group. We recommend that you take a look at this collection. We're sure you'll find more than a few that fit your personal food taste. We were already following many of these and after sampling the rest, we've added a few more to our local food information feeds!

Lisa also won our hearts when she said, "Oh, and it has nothing to do with food, but Penny has a whole section dedicated to dogs, with the most adorable photos of pups around the city." We do love our Boston Dogs!
