Edible Boston Fall 2012 Issue Around Town Now!

Edible Boston's covers are so attractive that I can envision them framed on my dining room wall. This issue is no exception. Nice work by photographer Michael Piazza.

The Fall 2012 issue is around town now. I found a stack of them at Bauer Wine & Spirits on Newbury Street. Howie Rubin had nice things to say about the success of his advertising in this publication. I know that Edible Boston has been an asset to the local food community, but I'm really happy to hear that it's good for the businesses that support it with their advertising dollars.

Every issue seems to feature someone near to our hearts at BostonZest. This time, there's a feature on the family team from the Mei Mei Street Kitchen food truck.

Pick up a copy and enjoy the insight provided on many aspects of the local food scene.

The Now & Future Sunday Dog, King!

Maybe it’s just us, but it seems as though there are a lot of puppies in Boston this summer. Then again, in the midst of raising one of our own, maybe we’re just noticing more of these little ones. Or, in King’s case, not so little.

This handsome, four-month-old German Shepherd is growing fast and couldn’t wait to greet us, especially our Poppy.

When we all stopped to exchange sniffs (well, not all of us), King did a “hello pee.” Poppy told her new friend that she knows the feeling and, while I couldn’t be sure, seemed to be passing along some advice on the practice.

King, named in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to salute a father’s work as a civil rights attorney, seems to be adjusting well to his new surroundings.

There’s a confident, self-assured, almost regal attitude about this guy. Just look at that face! Maybe we should call our Sunday Dog, “The Now & Future King of Boston Dogs!” Sounds good to us.

The Now & Future Sunday Dog, King!

Maybe it’s just us, but it seems as though there are a lot of puppies in Boston this summer. Then again, in the midst of raising one of our own, maybe we’re just noticing more of these little ones. Or, in King’s case, not so little.

Chocolate Meditation Could Be Good For You!

Want to lower your blood pressure? A recent post on NPR's Salt blog reported, "Daily Dose Of Dark Chocolate May Help Lower Blood Pressure." It was a small decrease but since they compared it to the decrease you can have from meditation, I decided that combining the two could be great.

With a little research I found, "The Chocolate Meditation -Time to Meditate while eating a bar of chocolate…" It was a report on the topic in Psychology Today by Danny Penman, Ph.D. He even provides a guide for completing a choclate meditation that sounds relaxing and delicious.

Yes, I realize that the researchers were talking about a simplier, less caloric form of chocolate than those in our photos. But, if you don't have a simple chocolate handy, you can sit quietly and think deeply about the flavors shown here.

Newbury Street 60% Off… the Sidewalk?

Between illegal sidewalk signs and open doors, pedestrians are forced to walk in the tree pits on Newbury Street.

We didn't catch one in this photo, but if you're really unlucky, you can also have the fun of dodging a speeding bike on this obstacle course.
